Hello, I’m Maria, Founder of The Canine Companion Company.

I live in the Cheshire countryside in a rambling Victorian farmhouse, with my five dogs, two horses, one toddler, and acres of fields. I’ve spent over a decade on the frontline of canine care; working in rescue, alongside ethical breeders, within veterinary practice, and in hands-on rehabilitation. I’ve fostered, walked, cared for, and supported dogs through everything from medical recovery to behavioural challenges.

I saw the same heart-breaking pattern again and again: dogs being abandoned or rehomed not because they were “bad,” but because they were the wrong match for the lifestyle they were placed in. That’s when I realised — people need guidance before they bring a dog home, not after.

That’s why I founded The Canine Companion Company, to offer the expert guidance I know makes all the difference. In a world where it’s all too easy to pick a dog based on a trend, or a social media scroll, I help clients make calm, conscious, informed decisions that stand the test of time.

This is about setting every dog and owner up for success, with thoughtful selection, trusted advice, and practical insight that only comes from real experience. It’s about conscious ownership. The right breed. The right temperament. The right match.
